Day 1 - Cebu -

Cebu Pacific Airlines to Cebu

The Courtyard of Basílica Minore del Santa Niño

Built in the 16th century, meaning that it has stood there for 5 centuries! It was also known as
San Agustin Church prior to its elevation as a Basilica Minore. It was built on the exact spot where the image of the Santo Nino, which is a sculpture depicting Jesus as a black Holy Child. Baroque style of architecture, the courtyard is very beautiful, and i have taken a 360deg view of it, but i have yet to stitch them up together.

Magellan's Cross

This is housed in a small chapel just next to
Basílica Minore del Santa Niño. It was planted by the Portuguese and the Spanish on April 21, 1521, and has stood there ever since. what you see here in the picture is however not the original cross, as the oroginal one is housed within it to protect it. Look at the Ceiling of the chapel... beautifully painted.

Just outside the church, there is a convenient stall selling cebu food stuffs. some pictures over here to see what Cebuanos eat.

Pig Pie??? Pita ka Pie definitely sounds cute

Polbobon - Macaroons thingy

Cebu is heavily influenced by Spanish culture, and hence, the macaroons.

Pinasugo Piaya - Banana "pancake"

Its actually dough encasing banana and dark muscovado sugar. Looks interesting that why i bought it, but taste wise, its a bit too "floury", and the banana taste is very faint

Cebu Cathedral

Looks at how beautiful it is

Notice the
Church Organ? Very seldom do you get to see this type of organ in churches, some can even be as tall as 5 storeys

Fort San Pedro

A fort built by the Spanish in the 18th century to protect themselves from the native Cebuanos. Initially it was made of earth and logs, but eventually it was upgraded to hardstones, and now it serves as a museum.

A Simple Life
One of my favourite picture taken in Cebu. These children have their own means to entertain themselves and they seemed happy...

San Carlos University - I like the name of this University

Jeepneys - The major form of transport over there. And from place to place, I travel in these jeepneys with the locals. Each ride cost only about 6 pesos, which is only about 20cents. Each jeepney has a few designated location, and when you want to alight, all you have to do is to shout out the location, and the driver will stop the vehicle. Its a good experience to take these jeepneys and interact with the locals. I remember one Lady sitting in the jeepney had a nice chat with us, very friendly person, and gave us a "local tour" while on the jeepney. Unforgettable experience, whenever i take one of these jeepneys, it feels as if i am part of the community.

The Fastfood of Cebu - Jollibee

It was still breakfast then, weather was so hot so I decide to pop in for the aircon. Snapped a picture of the menu, nothing fancy me... but this is the place where I have my first encounter with coke light

Their coke Light taste slightly different from ours, its really not psychological. It taste a little sweeter than the normal coke light back home. Feels so rejuvenated after a few gulps.

More to come - Shopping at their biggest shopping center, and a ghostly encounter at my hostel
