Domokun goes to Japan - Waffle with Black Sesame Ice Cream

Domokun goes to the street of Japan, and ended up in Shokudo

He spotted a plate of hot waffle with a scoop of black sesame ice cream, and his jaws drop wideee open...

He was caught for trying to steal my waffle, and now he must bear the consequence...

I was just pulling his leg. He was given a slice of the waffle with ice cream... and... Domokun live happily ever after... just for that day...

Desserts we share @ Coffee Club T3

Desserts we had at Coffee Club Changi Airport Terminal 3 before my sister flies off to Paris ... By the time she is back, I would have embark on my first and new full-time job, and I cannot wait for the stuffs which I asked her to get from me from Paris!!!

Sometimes I complain... why is it that the French are earning so much more than us (an engineer in France compared to an engineer doing similar stuffs in Singapore is earning about 3 times or more. Although the cost of living is higher in France, their wages are reasonably high as well... and their branded goods are so much cheaper than here. In short, Singaporeans earn less, pay more. Another example will be Korea. Just compare their cost of transportation against ours... They are paying less for longer distance... what is this mannn... no wonder Singapore earns himself one of the few top spots in cost of living worldwide.

Dessertssss!

Something light and refreshing... Fruity Tiramisu

Something heavier, thicker and rich in cappuccino and chocolate flavour - Muddy Mud Pie

She is just so cute... so she deserves a cute cake and cupcakes... =)

Mister Donuts - Pon de Lion

Usually I don't eat donut in Singapore, because it is deep fried!!! imagine flour and oil...

But these are different! because they are worth the damage... lol

The first time I tried them was about 8 or 9 months back... and ever since then, I have been hoping someone will go Taiwan and buy back for me...

Finally!

Mister Donuts... When you go to Taipei, everything is so cute there, their people, their dressing, their shops... even their donut... They actually have a cartoon character to represent each of their donuts...

They got more varieties, but over here are "Pon De Ring" and "French Culler". Pon De Ring is those on the left side with circular loops, they have a very chewy texture, whereas those on the right are french culler, soft texture.

Pack for my gf! My gf loves these... Chocolate and Sugar Pon De Ring, Strawberry and chocolate French culler... *see the paper bag also very cute right* lol

Pon De Ring and French Culler says
"Buy me!"
“买我!“

Fancy Delight - Interesting but not delightful

This cute looking tarts were spotted at the Chinese new year goodies fair at Takashimaya. There's a lot of hype over these tarts for it is very cleverly marketed... VARIETIES!

They have fruity flavours - Strawberry, Kiwi, Blueberry etc. Local Flavours - Kaya, Green Tea, Corn etc. And Chicken based - Curry Chicken, Pepper Chicken and Mushroom Chicken etc.

Very interesting right!

So i got... (Clockwise from Top Left) - Double Chocolate, Melting Chocolate, Original, Original, Original again... and lastly Banana!

Disect into half... and this is how melting chocolate looks like... I thought the egg custard could be much better... chocolate just taste like chocolate... but I don't really like the way they go together... no a perfect match....

And so was the banana egg tart... the banana is just that little slice you see at the bottom, and similarly, the egg custard was hmm.. not too good... Banana and egg tarts just don't match too...

Sorry Fancy Delight... Others might find you lovely, but not me larh... Tong Heng still owns you big time... but but... you are the innovative one...

Chinese New Year Goodies

One week after Christmas, we had New Year. Three weeks after New Year, we have Chinese New Year! Chinese New Year is the most anticipated festive season when I was young. But as I grow older... and older.... and olderrrr... I start to find CNY house visits a hassel... Hongbaos money that seem a lot when i was young, seems to have less purchasing power now...

All the ching chong ching chong CNY music are more of a irritation (if they keep repeating and repeating) rather tham music to the ears. But one thing remains... I still love CNY goodies!

Some of my favourites would be Bak Kwas, Pineapple Tarts, Almond cookies and Egg Rolls, and all sorts of nuts!!!

So last weekend, we went to the Chinese New Year fair at Takashimaya to get some CNY goodies! I realised that the fair at taka this year is different from last year. Sample sizes of all the cookies and tarts are sooo big! They used to give samples in pathetic pieces... but now they are so generous!

After a healthy lunch and dinner, I thought...wow.. I have a very clean diet today! Who knows when i got to takashimaya... In order to get the "besttt" pineapple tarts... I went from stall to stall to try out in search of the best. After a few stalls... i am really feeling the effects of how this tiny tarts are filling me up. So in the end, by visual inspection, I only try those which i deemed worth to give it a shot... skipping stalls like Lavendar... or blabla ulu name stall.

After sampling more than a dozen... I finally reached to a verdict that the BEST pineapple tarts in TAKA square is from AMETHYST!

Pineapple Tart Balls @ $18 for 20 pieces. Note that this balls are very small... so it is actually quite expensive. They have the cheese version, which is sold at $20 for 20 pieces. The cheese one smells nice, but when you eat it... It just taste not as nice as it smell. So in the end... I got home with 2 of these.

Egg roll from Hang Heung @ $13 a tin - The samples given was baked HOT and fresh! OH man... and its so flaky and buttery that upon biting it, it just melts... very nice! So we got a tin of this, and another tin of almond cookie which also cost $13, but i do have the picture as it is sitting at my gf's home! lol.

2 more weeks to CNY! Cannot wait to open these tins up and eat them! haha. Better get in shape before CNY!!! Buffet coming up too... o_O

Singapore Bakery and Confectionary

Singapore Bakery and Confectionary

A very old school Bakery. I remember during those days when i was younger (when i was still a cute white chubby primary school kid, lol), the aroma of the freshly baked bread never fails to attract my attention every morning.

My Primary school school used to stand just directly opposite this bakery, but now it has shifted to somewhere in Tampines. I have not bought anything from them since the 90s, and I was pleasantly surprised that this shop is still operating till now, everything remains more or less the same. They used to bake bread using coal-fired ovens, I am not sure if they still do, but i am very positive that no one does that anymore.

When I got there, the shop is already closing although it is only 3pm. There are not much bread left. Their very superrrrr soft and nice bread loaves (those that are used for making Kaya toast) are already all gone by then. But luckily, there is something left for me still. =)

Tada! Its a normal looking cream-roll that is not really normal, because the texture and taste is so different from those that are mass manufactured by Gardenia or other bakeries

the top layer has a very nice texture, somewhat firm. But the interior is so soft and fluffy like cotton! Sandwiched between the cottony bread is a thin layer of cream. The cream is not those homogenous cream we usually see in other cream rolls, it has some precipitates of sugar crystals suspended within it (sounds so engineering...haha, but i cant think of a better description for it) , giving it a very nice crunchy feeling while sicking your teeth into it!

Super Uber Nice Muffins - Bliss Haven

Super Uber nice Muffins spotted!

Bliss Haven - World's 1st Fortune Muffin!

wth is a fortune muffin? You know fortune cookies? Those cookies with a slip of paper in it with a msg that "tells" your fortune? Fortune muffins uses the same concept, just that the the paper is now in a muffin instead, or to be exact, its at the bottom of the muffin.

I don't think they need to employ such a marketing gimmik for their muffins are already good enough to attract the attention of muffin lovers. The vicinity of the shop smells of freshly baked muffins, anyone with a "working" nose will not be able to resist this temptation...

Each muffin cost $1.20, and buy 5 you will get one free. (That's y you see the free one in the picture kena squeezed until so poor ting, free ma)

And they come in 6 Flavour - Cheese & Chicken Ham, Oreo Cookies, Raisin & Orange Peel, Banana & Walnuts, Chocolate and Blueberry.

Chocolate - The crust/top is really veryyy good. I wish there's more chocolatey rice in it as well as on it...

Banana & Walnuts - This is the best in my opinion. Generous slices of bananas and walnuts... and wach bite gives you some crunchiness and sweetness...

Oreo Cookies - See the hugh chuncky Oreos sticking out from the muffin! If you find it too little, you can always buy your own oreos, break it to pieces and stuffed it in.

Overall: The muffins are nice and cheap and big!!! They have been featured in the Straitstimes before, but that doesn't matter, what matters is now that are featured by me! haha. Like what they say,

Muffins will never be the same again!

Low Sugar Mooncake

This mooncake is from my Sister and Bro-in-law... came abit late! Knowing that I am a health freak, they bought low sugar one! Even though it states low in sugar, less sugar simply means that there are more of other "stuffs". Looking at the nutritional value card that comes along with the mooncake, one piece still contains 800Kcal. But taste wise, it taste less oily, you know some mooncakes you can eat them and you can feel the interior of your mouth oily and all...

Tada!

with a sticker stating reduced sugar!

Mooncakes from Goodwood Park Hotel

Goodwood Park Tote Bag...

hidden with 2 boxes of mooncakes - their famous durian mooncake and the assorted snowskin mooncake. The packaging is very nice, 4 big pieces of mooncakes packed in a long box, the box even has a magnetic catch to seal it!

Everything looks so nice... but is it nice to eat?! The answer is NO! Their durian mooncakes used to be durian flavoured snowskin wrapped around real authentic durian. But this year the standard has dropped drastically. Serious! The snowskin is "nua" or soggy, and the durian paste taste more like those long long durian cake which we can buy from M'sia... I dunno if is it that their standard has really dropped, or is it inconsistency in their standard and i happen to kena the lousy batch...
