Results of my blood test - I have high cholesterol

About a month back, I had a blood test. I eat 5 eggs with yolks a day, not including fried eggs, steamed eggs, eggs in sandwiches, eggs in... I can't think of any now... But I know I eat a darn lot of eggs... Just before I start blogging, I ate 2 hard boiled eggs.... lol. So I was thinking if my arteries are all chocked and cluttered... until this report is out.

Vision is purrrrrfecto! =D I was curious what a 6/5 vision means... I always thought perfect is 6/6... so after reading this... now I know what is 6/5...

and is it really a normal for people to have waistline of 90cm??? I don't think so leh... their standard very funnyy...... wierd..... outrageous!

Snellen Chart

This is the important part... cholesterol! My total cholesterol is borderline high. My HDL (Good cholesterol) is high, very high in fact. My LDL (Bad cholesterol) is Borderline high. So what does all these HDL, LDL, Total cholesterol means?

Actually there is not much meaning on their own, we have to look at the ratio. A person can have Normal levels of LDL (Bad cholesterol), but less than normal HDL (Good cholesterol) and he/she will still have higher risk of heart diseases if the ratio is not optimum.

As for my case, the ratio of Total/HDL is 3, and that is less than the normal of 4.5, meaning I belong to the low risk. So from this we can see that to prevent risk of developing heart diseases, there is 3 things we can do:

1. Increase HDL (Good)
2. Lower LDL (Bad)

BUT the golden question is How? What can I do?

To increase HDL (Good) - Increase cardiovascular exercises, Lose weight (fat mass) if you are overweight, Stop smoking, Increase intake of monosaturated fats from sources such as avocado, olive oil and PEANUT BUTTER! Omega 3 fatty acids, and cut down on transfats (killer).

To Lower LDL (Bad) - Decrease intake of saturated fats, avoid transfats, increase intake of soy products according to studies, Lose weight (fat mass) if you are overweight, eat food high in fibre such as wholemeal bread, oats.

As for my Triglyceride level, mine is 23, which is much less than the optimum or 150. Too low in Triglycerides is also not good as it suggest malnutrtion. Anything less than 10. I am still safe. :)

Blood Glucose normal

and they say... "we are happy to note that you are generally not at increased risk of developing heart diseases...bla bla bla"

You are happy... so am I. =)

Aedes - you evil - Ham & Cheese Sandwich, Doriyaki, Hard-boiled eggs

Stupid Aedes Mosquitoes... you don't just sting and spread diseases, you give me so much trouble... now I am in my lab, taking video of you and observing you... and this is going to take like... 1 Hz per second... 1Khz = 1000s = 17min, 50 Khz will take 50 * 17 = 850 min which is = 14.2 hours... that's a longgggg longgggg wait...

My experiment set up... those cute Aedes larvae are in the cubic box which i bought from daiso... the lab technician was fascinated by that box... i dunno yyyyy... and they are subjected to some "abuse" from me... and I need to observe how they resond to these abuses... lol.

heng... I brought some food to the lab... Ham and cheese sandwich which was made in a jiffy, 2 hard boiled eggs and my all-time love which Xiao Ding Dang (Doraemon) likes to eat... Dorayaki! which was bought from Taiwan by my family... and that's the reason why i was home alone, and the rotten bananas...

Frozen Bananas

What would you do if are home alone for the next 1 week

and you have a whole bunch of freshly riped bananas (Del Monte) lying on the table, but it is impossible to finish everything in one go, or rather, you do not wish to finish everything in on go.

and if you wait for a few more days... it will turn to...

rotten bananas!

so what i did was to peel all the bananas and freeze them in the freezer!

and here you are... Frozen Bananas!

This was experimental, and surprisingly, it taste quite good! It taste like banana ice cream if you ask me to describe it... cold and chewy... chew and chew until it melts! Expecially when this few days the weather is soooo hot... this is a good snack to snack on...it cools you down.

PLUS

this is definitely a good snack after your run or workout to replenish ur carbs!

Actually my intention was not to eat it as it is (frozen). I have another use for it...

Stay tuned!

Buffet @ Grand Copthorne Hotel - Good Food, Good Company

Just only last than one month ago, I had buffet... now I'm having buffet again! But this time it is so much nicer than the previous buffet!

5 pairs of yin & yang at Cafe Brios

Live section whereby the chef cuts you a super yummlicious sirloin, then follow by salad bar and then OYSTERS!!!

Pretty looking desserts, fruits for the healthy people!, and ice cream for the unhealthy!

Cheese Counter!!! For me! Cheese lovers will be so delighted... One of them is Jersey Gold which is made from Jersey cow of course... which has high fat content! No wonder this is the best cheese in my opinion... some fishy stuffs, masala?

There's a lot of Chinese dishes and Indian dishes which was not captured. Does not interest me... and is not very healthy la...... im a health nut... yayaya.

eh? Cheese counter again? Live section for some chinese soup noodles... Sotong...

Now for the interesting part!

Everything was shared with my gf horrr... So pls don't think I am a glutton! although still alot... Hungry ma! Cos i went to the gym in the morning at 7am before the buffet!

These are my post-workout meal! Super high protein lor! lol

Appeitisers : Very fresh Tuna and Salmon

Cheese Stix with Cheese = Cheesy Cheese stix!
Gold Jersey my favourite cheese, Fruit Cheese which is my second to Jersey Gold, Blue Cheese, and some wierd wierd unknown cheese.

Rojak Platter of Tuna, Sotong, Yu Sheng, Baked Char Siew Pau, Quiche, Har Kow and Chicken stuffed with raisins. I like the quiche in cafe brios! Alot of chunky fillings with a strong taste of custard.

Sirloin cut by the chef, Quite thick, and it is roasted not grilled... so healthier! yeah. Turkey Ham... another healthy choice... The white cubes on the top of the picture is actually Goat cheese... and it does not suit my taste.

Another plate of Sirloin for my gf... with cheese stick? haha. The black cube thing on the left is braised Beef ribs, very nicee and soft... but ribs is quite unhealthy... in fact... ribs from any animals are... fat...ty.

Time to whack the Oysters! Oysters with Tabasco and lemon is mine. Oysters with no tabasco and little lemon is my gf's. eeks. Mussels is quite nice with carrots and some spices stuffed inside.

Tuna and Salmon and Smoked Salmon!

And the star of the plate is Tiger Prawns and the not so big prawns... Can I tell you how juicy and fresh and HUGEEEE they are! one plate is never enough... Anyway This plate is so healthy lor...
Everything is high in protein, close to zero carbs and zero fats... (that is if you dun suck of the disgusting Prawn head)... and salmon has omega 3!

and again...

and again... i told you... one plate is not enough!

The soup... is ok. The chicken stuffed with raisin is nice. The fish thingy is ok. The huge chunk of meat there is actually satay... instead of minced satay, this is a huge chunky piece of satay... unminced that is.

Halfway... I am missing the cheese again...

Creme Brule is nice... very creamy and the vanilla taste is very niceee... Then there is also Kiwi Umeya, Mango moose, Chocolate cake is very rich...

there is also more cakes, cheese cakes... and other unknown cakes not captured as well.

All in all... it was a nice meet up... and nice food...

that's it! byebye Cafe Brios.

gotta study for German test, that is tomorrow!

Happy Valentine's Day - My Flower simply beats 101 rose

Happy Valentine's to all!

Instead of spending a bomb on 101 roses

I have a better idea.

I still remember a few years back, my prof for General Biology asked a question. Why do guys give roses during Valentine's Day? Why not just give ladies a bouquet of Broccoli

since every small stumbs that you see on a broccoli is a flower by itself. That easily adds up to more than a few thousands flowers.

Broccoli - You win.

Phiten Products - no pain more gain!

First of all, I must declare that I am not in any way associated with this product and I do not make any cents from this! I am merely sharing something which I think I should, for caring is sharing! hahaa...

Many weeks ago, a friend of mine lent me a rubber necklace (the one up there), supposedly to help relieve pain, accelerates natural healing, and other general health benefits. This is because I have a rotary cuff injury, and the only way for it to heal is to let it rest. But letting it rest would mean staying away from the gym for months... :(

Heng ah, luckily this guy introduced me this product. But initially i was like... wtf... this rubber thing can work meh? Seeing me soooo skeptical, this guy lend me his necklace for a week to try out.

and soo.. after a week of trying, I was back in the gym. After i sustained my rotary cuff injury, my bench press can increase only up to 50kg before the pain starts to set in... One week after using his rubber thingy, I put my shoulders to the test, and this time round, I was very very surprised. I managed to bench up to 90kg before the pain sets in! This is really amazing! But being me, I am still very skeptical, and I thought this could be psychological. But... how can pain be psychological? The fact is that the pain is really gone! So I did a little online research on this product, and took me quite some time before i decide to give this product a try.

There are many people who are skeptical of this product, but these are the ones who never try the product, yet they are making -ve comments about it! Do give this a chance before putting it down!

I am not some dumbarse who believe in pseudoscience, magic or whatever bullcrap, but a believer of things that works!

So I bought this X30 necklace, which has 30 times the concentration of the normal ones. Just like wind, we cannot see it, but we can feel the effects. I surely can feel the effects of wearing this. My pain is relieved, my energy level has increase etc. My bro-in-law also got one, and he feels that recovery from his workouts has shortened!

Its all in the mind or It is just a new science, just like accupunture - try it to feel it.

The shop assistant also let me try a titanium patch on my shoulders which is supposed to relieve my pain instantly... but sad to say... This does not works on me! =\ Maybe it does for others!
