Ayam Penyat Ria with an extra crunch

Ayam Penyat RIA at Lucky Plaza

A stall that specialises in what else... Ayam Penyat lor. Since Ayam penyat is smashed chicken, and ayam is chicken, so i supposed penyat means smashED? This dish originates from Indonesia, but why must it be smashed before serving... i don't know!

Tick your choices and pay $$$, there are some items which I have no idea what they are. I asked the staff but they can't really speak English, so i randomly picked 1 soupy dish.

The Ayam Penyat is very crunchy... but very dry too... crumbs are also added give it an xtra crunch. What i like best about this is their chilli... it has a very exquisite taste. As you can see Kangkong is also served alongside.

and this is the random dish.... Beef Ball soup...There is not much beefball, but the soup is super duper oily la... omg. I don't dare to drink it. It seems as though they add the oil from all the frying of the ayam into this soup... where got soup so oily one???

You can eat the above at:
304 Orchard Road
Lucky Plaza
04-25/26

350 Joo Chiat Road
01-45/46/47

Novena Square 2
B1-01/05

Boys Nite Out @ Sushi Tei Paragon

Finally met up with them after soooo long... cos all of us are scattered everywhere... working ones, NUS, NTU, SMU and one more MIA in Aust... keke.

And nothing beats good companions and good food!

Cha Soba with Chicken Katsu - Ordered by someone working in credit suisse leh (keke)... or is it cresit swiss? or suises? dunno la...
The cold noodles glisters with a nice green, and looks so yummy hor? The chicken katsu is not in the above picture... because these pictures are posted in a chronological order! and the Katsu actually came much later...

Curry Katsu Udon - Ordered by me... i was craving for some Jap curry! The jap curry in sushi tei has a sweet taste to it... not too viscous which will make u sick after eating a few mouthful... and the curry is rich in flavor! Oh ya.. and the udon is very chewy...

I think this is Chicken Katsu Don... too much flash... ugly picture~

Salmon Sushi - all i remember what that is was yummy, i cannot remember the proper name...
I remember this, its Golden Roll! and it costs $13! It has a large prawn wrapped within the rice, and topped with a slice of mango... it looks damn nice on the menu but it turns out ok only, the previous one which I ate at Vivocity, with prawn and cheese...

This mediocre looking Garlic Fried Rice ordered by our SMU student taste much better than how it looks! I stole a spoonful because i though it was quite interesting to try something unconventional. Surprisingly, it taste quite alike to sushi actually, probably because of the strong hint of vinegar... I kind of like this... + I remember this cost less than $10 only!

Some uninteresting Don...

and this is the chicken Katsu, no, Its Pork Katsu for the Cha Soba... finally it arrived... the cold noodles must have already turned to warm noodles... It looks so well-fried la... the exterior fried to a nice golden brown, and the interior still looks juicy... I want to try this next time!

and finally, Curry Katsu Don... very similar to what I ate... just that this is rice instead of udon, ordered by NUS student aka Bruce Lee...

Sushi Tei =)

Hokkaido Fair @ Isetan Orchard

Many samples for you to try! It feels like I am back in Dan Shui (Taipei) where samples are given out and you can eat until you are filled... lol!
I love nuts, all sort of nuts... healthy(raw) nuts as well as unhealthy(processed) ones! But unhealthy one eat less often larh. The Pinkish nuts on the right is Sakura nuts... It is quite nice and it tastes like sugar coated peanut... I guessed its named Sakura probably due to that pink hue ba... or is there something called sakura taste?
Black Soy Beans are very very high in protein, very low in fats and low in carbs!

And they got many types of scallops. The original taste one is still the best. There are some variants such as grilled with cheese etc, but it is so pricey la...

Anchovies and Furikake to go along with your rice... I seldom eat rice unless its sushi... so i dun need them. =)
"Korokke" or Croquette is a popular french food that was introduced to Japan, and ever since then, many creative and interesting croquettes has been made by the Japanese. It was so popular in Japan that a song was made about it.

“korokke is an everyday dish, we eat korokke today and tomorrow. are we gonna eat korokke all year around?”.

I wanted to buy the Shrimp with Cream Korokke, I just want to get one, but the lady say they already packed in two of the same kind... but why eat the same thing twice??? I dun like this idea, so i never get to try it, but it certainly looks good. There are also fried meat filling and many types la..i cant rmb!

Last year I had the Dango! It is nicer than the ones in Ajiteh. This year there are many choices to choose from, and there are also mochi...

Hokkaido Curry Bun... Pretty Ex for a bun filled with curry... normally Sun Moulin sells for $1 +... Bread talk one got egg some more!

My favourite! Manju in the making... Manju is sort of like a pancake with filling, but ain't exactly a pancake also lar... taste different leh... The manju here made on the spot is somuch nicer than those I had from Hongkong previously...

Available in 2 different fillings - Red Bean and Cream

and these are my eatsss... other than the samplesss... :)

The curry bun is nice, but i don't think it is worth of the price tag it carries. The curry flavor is pretty aromatic, yet there's a fruity sweetness to it, the exterior is thin and crisp, while the interior is soft...not bad!

The Manjus are my favourite! I prefer the cream over the red bean ones... The red bean ones will be better is only they are chunkier.

Sushi! These are not from the Hokkaido Fair, but from Isentan itself... The sushis from Isetan is more expensive (almost double the price) as compared to those takeaway outlets in supermarket... but their sushi is better, hmm... maybe better than sakae sushi? We all know sakae sucks.

and not forgetting...desserts made by my dearest

I love Rumballs, esp those from Hans. I love peanut butter, esp Adams. So my dearest combines the two into Peanut Butter Rum Ball! Oh gosh... it melts in your mouth... The interior is crispy and has peanut butter, coated with chocolate and sprinkled with either chocolate rice, cinnamon powder or peanut brittles.

I just had one first thing I woke up, then went for a 5k run! hehe

Vilage' - The Pre-Exam Food

Hohoho... Xmas is coming and exams are finally over! so now i can continue with my journey of eating and blogging again! Exams was sucky...whatever...
Time to Exercise more bcos of all the snacks that i have eaten while trying to "mug"... Everyday must go gym now... just look at the amt of snacks i had for just 2 weeks (pics from the previous post) and that was like maybe 1/4 of my total servings only, loL.
Some random pics from the not so distant past, b4 my exams...
Ham and Cheese Crepes
I remember those days back in secondary school, the crepes were filled fully with ham and cheese, it was so much nicer and better than the one at vilage' now. The standard have dropped so much, or is it bcos those days back then it was marche. But nevertheless, I still find crepes to be the must-eat dish in marche/vilage'.

Sausage with Rosti and a 'sunny-sideup'

Another must-eat for me. I like the rosti slightly burnt! Look at the amount of mustard at the side of the plate! haha... love mustards!

Sakae Sushi @ Wheelock

After being so stressed with work work and more work... always eating school food day in and out... finally managed to squeeze some time out to eat out. And the eating out place this time was Sakae Sushi!

Probably I am just being paranoid...or maybe im not... maybe you guys think likewise... i feel that the Sushi and the rest of the dishes taste better at the Wheelock outlet than other outlets... Some other outlets, their sushi were kinda warm, some also don't serve all the dishes. Anyway heres what i ate! :) oh ya... everything was snapped using my v3xx... and it kinda suck in dim lights... so the pictures doesn't look as appetizing.

Tamago Nigiri
This is my favourite! The moment i sat down, saw it moving on the conveyor, immediately i grabbed it already! haha.... But actually its quite easy to make, you can buy the tamago at carrefour, and the sushi just make your own
Spicy Salmon and Unagi Temaki
I always like handroll because of that hugh piece of seaweed wrapping up everything.
Cha Soba
Green Tea buckwheat noodle is a must for me! Served cold giving you that refreshing feel... Anyway it is very high in protein.
Enoki Niku Maki
Golden Shrooms wrapped in meat and drizzled with terriyaki sauce. The sauce is too overwhelming and too sweet due to the generous amount. You got to dumped the whole thing into your mouth in one go because the whole thing is just too tough to bite into half...

Chicken Miso Nabe

The miso paste all sinks to the bottom so remember to stir it thoroughly every now and then. They should add more fishcake in the miso soup...

Soft Shell Crab Crepe Premium Maki

Soft Shell Crab encased in Tau Pok Skin and omelette skin, with mayonaise and cucumber within. I like the Tau Pok and the Omelette... softshell crap was just being extra...

Japanese Gyoza

Its just gyoza... nothing spectacuar about it.

Fried Tofu

Whenever i go to Jap restaurant, Tofu is a must also. soooo mouth watering and smooth...

and many other sushi which did not get their chance to be featured due to my hungry tummy, chomping them down before they can get their photoshoot.

Total Damage for the dinner.... Everything was wiped out clean... *Burpz*

gourmet chocolate

Gourmet Dark Chocolates from Royal Plaza on Scotts
2 pieces chomped off by me before i can even take a photo of it! Its Dark Chocolate with nuts and mandarin orange... taste-wise, its very unique, but it would be better if the dark chocolate is perhaps 85%? i guess this is around 70% dark. Can you see the gold glitterings in the middle of the chocolate bar??? yeah... that's gold dust! so basically you are paying extra just for the aesthetic value of the chocolate... but still its worth the money...bcos its only $8.55 incl 7% GST! more ex than normal cadbury, but definitely worth trying!

Lawry's - overhyped?

Lawry's Restaurant, founded by Lawrence L. Frank and Walter Van de Kamp co-founded the original Lawry's The Prime Rib on La Cienega Boulevard in Beverly Hills. Much of the splendor of the meal was in the way each part of the dinner was prepared and presented. Ever the showman, Lawrence designed the famous "silver" carts so the beef could be carved at tableside.
So much for all the "silver" carts, but what matters most is still the food. The presentation of the food was good, ambience was nice, the waitress dressed in very cute "french-maid kinda" uniform, but food-wise.... hurmph...
USA Prime Ribs of Beef: Lawry's cut (285g) . the medium was too bloody, the above was medium-well... still bloody! It wasn't fantastic... it was justttt "can do larh".
Beside it was Idaho Mashed Potato - it was ok.
The bread-looking thing is Yorkshire Pudding - Taste like bread that is cripsy on the outside. it was once again... ok.
The damage was $76.80+++ (unjustified)

Tendoloin Wrapped in bread. The idea of Tendoloin with bread was bad bad bad... the Tendoloin was over-cooked as a result, making it too tough.

Atlantic Lobster tail - cooked in 3 different ways : steamed, herbs and chilli sauce.
This was the best dish out of all, but any seafood restaurant in SG can do better.
Damage: 80+++ (justified)

Spinning Bowl Salad - The word spinning came from the fact that the server actually literaly spins the salad bowl over ice as she makes the salad. The spinning bowl salad taste like ... salad.
KFC salad should be better.

Lawry's no more~

Ajiteh @ Taka

Ajiteh serves very nice japanese desserts. No complains about their desserts, really. Recently went there again and ordered Azuki Matcha Shake (Red Bean Green Tea Shake), but was pretty dissapointed with it. The Red beans was really stingy, the shake was too diluted. Bad Choice! but nevermind....bcos next came something called dango which saves the day!

Heres Dango!
The Green tingy is actually matcha mochi kinda tingy, with red bean paste on top. very chewy and the aroma of the green tea lingers in your mouth (4.5/5)
The yellow tingy is some mochi tingy drizzled with terriyaki-taste sauce... i like it too... it may taste wierd at first... glutinous ball with terriyaki sauce??? but its taste is kinda unique... very jap... very sedap! (4.5/5)
Address of Ajiteh
Located at the basement of Takashimaya, near the food courts
