Indonesian Thai Dining @ Bumba

Entrance to Bumbu

The Interior

I have no idea what are the words on the signboard means

A Peep at the Menu - They have very interesting dishes such as Bumbu Salad; Catfish with Mango Salad; Diced Pineapple Curry Prawn etc

I don't want any soft drinks, so i settled for Chinese Tea - $2

Appetizer - Krathong Thong $ 7.80 - The base is actually some "Keropok", filled with minced meat, diced carrots and green peas, topped with a lot of shallots. A crispy and fragrant dish, but not to my liking.

Belachan Fried Rice $8.00 - The Fried Rice is not too wet/dry, served with egg at the side which is still quite soft and runny, along with slices of mango and preserved meat.

Cold Tofu with Preserved Egg $7.80 - I chose this dish because i love Tofu and Eggs... The Tofu is served cold on a plate of chili oil, topped with Shallots and Preserved eggs. Its a nice dish, but will be nicer if theres more preserved eggs... and the chili oil is actually kind of redundant.
Uh huh! This is a must try! Coffee Chicken $8.80... When this dish arrived on the table, you can almost immediately smell the aroma of the coffee. It has the aroma of coffee, yet its sweet and not bitter, and the chicken is tender and juicy inside.

Sambal Kangkong $7.80 - The least popular dish on the table, probably because its too common. Do not belittle this dish as it seems that there's not much chili, but beware... i find it quite spicy for my taste buds thou.
Stir Fried Squid in Black Sauce $10.80 - The Squid slices is quite chewy as they are sliced thick. It taste more of sweet than spicy.
After burning your tongue, time for desserts!
Tako $2.50

Red Ruby $2.50

This is the Best Dessert - Custard Pumpkin $2.50 - It is actually a warm dessert whereby the pumpkin is steamed alongside with custard at its center, warm, sweet and moist...
Total Damage and Address

Verdict:
Nice place and Nice food, enough for once but maybe not twice

Saturday Lunch at Golden Mile

Have u ever seen a money tree?! haha... we were greeted by this money tree... real $$$!

first came water chestnut drink...

Papaya (881) salad, in my previous entry, i tried the mango salad, and i must say i still prefer the mango version. But this time round, i specifically asked for less spicy, even thou usually i can take spicy food... u try and u will know why!
Nest up, was Pandan leave chicken. 1 piece for it is already humogous. The pandan frangrace seep into the tender chicken...
Tom Yam Goong~ lots of seafood, worth it!
Pine apple fried rice in Pineapple! Baby Kailan - the veggies are crunchy~

Seafood Tofu Claypot~

The Thai style lunch ended off well with these colourful dessert called 'Luk Chut'. This jelly-like stuffs are molded to resemble fruits, and they actually taste like "ang ku kueh", just the its jelly on the outside, and the paste inside. Very Appealing to the eyes hor!

Golden Mile Shopping Center

I swear I will go back to Golden Mile again for the Thai Food! So much better than Simply Thai, Thai Express, on par with Lemon-Grass...but so much cheaper!

hmmm..what do order...

Thai Mango Salad @ $6

A must try! i love this!!! Sweet from mango and Spicy from the Chilli Padi.

4.5 Mangoes out of 5 mangoes!!

Thai Ice Coffee @ $1.50

I was hoping the Ice Coffee taste like the Trung Nguen Coffee back in Vietnam, thou it looks almost the same, with lots of crushed ice... Vietnam Coffee still rocks. Never-e-less...its just coffee.

3 Coffee Beans out of 5 Coffee Beans!

Thai Fried Rice with Pork @ $6

A simple dish but so well-cooked. The Beef is not the soft and tender kind, but it goes well with the fried rice. Everything small little details in the Fried rice just complements each other so perfectly..so good!

4 Rice out of 5 Rice

Tom Yam Soup @ $7

So much Meat! Pork, Liver, Chunks of Tomatoes! The liver is cooked just nice! normally i don't eat liver because of the bloody taste. However, the liver goes so well with the Tom Yam Soup that I almost finish all the liver by myself! Unlike some other Tom Yam Soup that is merely Spicy and Sour, this tomYam Soup brings out the aroma of every spices and garnishes used.

4.5 Lemon grass out of 5 Lemon Grass!

Passport expire cannot go bangkok in time... alternative: Thai Embassy!

My family will be going to BKK on the 20th, but I will not be joining them. But why fly all the way to BKK to eat when you can find the real stuff here in Singapore?! The thai festival was held at the Thai Embassy from 30th June to 1st Jul and i was there! Pictures!

Thai Fried Noodles nicely wrapped in eggs, sprinkled with chilli powder and peanut bits
Its was very spicy and very very oily... but the prawns and seafood was generous enough...

Tom Yam Kway Teow (Look at the amount of seafood(high in Protein)!)

Thai "Crepe" - enveloping strands of candy floss with a light taste of peanut butter (This is Good)

Thai Festival may be over, but for those who like Thai food, you can always drop by at Golden Mile complex and have your fill there! Will do a report on Golden Mile Complex soon!
