Revisit to Noodle House Ken - More Ramen = More Happniess

This is a revisit to Noodle House Ken, and this time round I treated my family! My previous visit, I only get to try 2 favours... this time round... FIVE! =D I mentioned in the earlier post that there was a lady with some atiitude, this revisit we saw her again... I wonder who she is... but for the sake of good food... I shall tahan...

I shall keep this post short, as all the below are good, and shan't describe too much.

Miso Ramen @ $12 - I did not try this previously, but now that I had, this is my favourite ramen flavour!

4.7 Miso / 5.0 Miso

Cold Noodle @ $12 - My 2nd favourite! A strong hint of sesame taste... See the Gyoza at the top right corner? It is a additional order that cost $5 for 5 Gyozas. I forgot to take a proper picture it.

4.6 Cold Noodles / 5.0 Cold Noodles

Gyoza 2 $5 for 5 pieces - The gyoza taste different from the usual ones that I had. It is meatier and there is a very unique taste.

4.3 Gyoza / 5.0 Gyoza

Kimuchi Ramen @ $12 - I had this previously so click here for reviews on it

4.0 Kimuchi / 5.0 Kimuchi

Char Siew Raman @ $12 - Click here for previous reviews

4.5 Char Siew/ 5.0 Char Siew
Stewed Egg Ramen @ $12 - The Stewed Egg is pretty good, as the yolk is still quite runny but the whites are not. Other than that, it taste quite similar to Char Siew Ramen, difference is just the egg, and instead of 5 slices of Char Siew, you get 2!

4.5 Egg / 5.0 Egg

Some simple mathematics:

5 Slice of charsiew = $5

Therefore,

1 Stewed Egg = 3 Charsiew = $3!

Quite sick of ramen for the time being... too little meat... too much carbs... more meat for me! but i don't mind going back in the future...

Noodle House Ken @ Orchard Plaza

Craving for some ramen?

Come down to Noodle House Ken, specialist in authentic Japanese Ramen. The shop looks like those you see in "Japan Hour" which serves nothing much but ramen, with a counter surrounding the chef. Watch him skillfully toss the noodles while having your fill, making it even more appetising. i believe that a good ramen requires to fufil three criteria - good soupbase, good noodles and good ingredients that goes along.

Let's see how Ken's noodles fare.

Chef at work

Menu - There are in total 8 choices

Condiments on the table - Ice water is also served FOC.

Char Siew Ramen @ $12

I was so shocked when the ramen arrived, cos that bowl is really huge! Half of it is actually just nice for me.

Soup - 4.5/5.0 - The soup is actually prepared by double-boiling for 8 hours! Therefore, no MSG was used at all! The soup is indeed very tasty and full of flavour... it is quite salty but its not due to any added salt i guess, the saltiness could be from the results of 8 hours of double boiling, hence bringing out the flavour. Every single drop was slurped dry by me!

Noodle - 4.4/5.0 - If you like Ajisen noodles, you will dislike it after eating Ken's noodles! It is so Q,so chewy... and you can't help it but to slurp the noodles instead of the usual style of eating that bowl of mee pok you buy from the hawker center. I ate every single strand!

Ingredients - 4.8/5.0 - I simply loveee the char siew (Pork Slices), they are sliced quite thick, yet it is so soft! The added bamboo shoots adds some crunchiness to the occasion bites.

*Tip*: There's a bottle of white sesames, ground some into the broth while its hot and you are into some great broth!

Kimuchi Ramen @ $12

Almost similar to char siew ramen, just that the soup is a tat spicier, but fret not... it ain't as spicy as you think it is. The noodles and ingredients are almost the same as the charsiew ramen, just that there are additional kimchi.

Soup - 4.0/5.0 - The kimchi spoils the taste of the 8 hours double boiled broth. But it is still better than most kimchi soup which uses powder to make the soup base.

Verdict: I will defintely go back again for more!!! Anyway there is a 10% service charge... but do not expect great service.
