Domokun goes to China for "Xiao Long Bao" and India for "Naan with Tandori Chicken"

Domokun likes the Xiao Long Tang Bao at the food court at the basement of Sim Lim Square. But one "bao" is too big for him, so he share half of it with me...

Argggh... Its too spicy for him! Domokun doesn't like spicy food. So in the end, he just eat the tandori and the naan without the curry. The tandori is very well "spiced" and fragrant.

Seems like Domokun like the food court of Sim Lim Square!

Tomorrow Domokun will be flying off already... He does not know about it until today, and only has 36 hours to pack his all-time favourite domokun likes.

Domokun wants to take photo with the Eiffel Tower in Paris

and then take an overnight train... to Germany...

Domokun is very excited!
He wants to take photo with the Sony center am Potsdamer Platz.

Lots of food awaits Domokun, but Domokun just like me, also like to run. So Domukun will be bringing his teeny weeny dokushoe to run there...

Domokun will be back in 2 weeks time!

Arrghhhh!!!!!!!

Indy lunch @ Sim Lim Food Court

Indian and Pakistani I though India and Pakistan are rivals... not my problem anw, just give me good food!

Wah... they got a big big ceramic furnace... im so attracted by that... I must order something freshly cooked and served out of tt!

Tada! Garlic Naan with Chicken Tandoori freshly made and serve out of the ceramic furnace... hot hot... anw chicken tandoori is one of the healthier choices one can get at a indian stall!

I am pretty surprise that at a food court in Sim Lim Square, i can actually find a decent/good indian food. Singaporeans usually use the length of the queue as a goodfoodmeter (how good a food is), but this is not always the case... like now.

But why is it that the price of Indian Food is always so steep! i heard from grandfather's stories of how they double-standard...shall not explain more. at least im satisfied with some spicy hot curry in my tummy. hehe

Ma Maison @ Bugis Junction, Swiss Bake Cake, Provence Scones

This is super overdue la... I still have a lot of food photos stacking up, awaiting me to blog about them! I shall try and blog daily from today onwards, its kind of tedious, kind of like homework stacking up even thou its the holidayS!

Ma Maison - Japanese Western Food

This place was chosen by my girlfren for her birthday! Japanese and Western, both her favourites, fused into one! She will love it!

Very nice deco inside the restaurant... very Victorian style, very romantic too with all the nice lightings and pretty table cloth.

Anyway, see that sign on the table? Ladies get to enjoy 20% off on Monday night! argh... why this discrimination against my gender!

They have a pretty large array of dishes in their menu, but we settled for two voted as the best by bloggers!

While waiting for the food to arrive... fiddling with the stuffs on the table... they provide wet tissue!

and while waiting and waiting and waiting for the food to arrive... Ta da! A Bag of freshly baked scones from Provence for you!

Chocolate Chip scones and cranberries scones! No more lousy four leaves scones! Provence scones is the only scones that I will eat... the texture is what it is to be called scones! Where is Provence? Refer to my past entry here!

4.6 Scones / 5.0 Scones

The first dish arrives - Hamburger Steak @ $19.80

Initially I wanted to order the one with cheese, but i don't know why im so blur and point to the wrong picture when ordering! But its ok! cos this is still as good i supposed. The beef patty is rich in flavour, and I love that sunny side so much! The brown sauce that comes along with it has a very unique taste

4.2 Hamburger / 5.0 Hamburger

Beef Stragonov with Omu Rice

The Omu rice is so closeee to perfection. Thick yet soft layer of warm milky egg enveloping the butter rice, and just like the beef patty, the beef here is rich in taste and soft... its goooooddddd...

4.6 Beef / 5.0 Beef

Cake from Swiss bake

Swiss Bake has many interesting looking cakes, and their cakes size is lovely just for 2 person. Aesthetics wise, they already score for it, taste wise, they score pretty high too i must say. Prices are around $20 and is located at quite a few places actually - I got mine from holland village cold storage. they have a website if you are interested.

4.3 cocoa cake/ 5.0 cocoa cake

Miss Clarity Cafe @ Purvis

Miss Clarity Cafe

The word 'miss' might turn some guys off, thinking that this cafe is for all-girls gathering... but you are absolutely not right! When I got there, there was a good mix of both sexes, so pls... dun be put off by the name, and the pinkish decor... what matters is the food right?

click on the picture to visit their website and take a look at their menu, as my pictures does not do them justice due to the poor lighting in the cafe.

Fish Cordon Bleu
oven-baked crispy breaded fish fillet sandwiching ham & melted cheese

I love this! Generous amount of fish, 2 thick chunks... and the interior is still tender.
Highly recommended!

Reduce your damage: remove the Tartar sauce

Chicken Ballotine - $8.80
oven-baked chicken thigh stuffed with fresh shitake mushroom, drenched with mushroom sauce

The Shitake mushroom was quite tasteless, but there's a lot of it stuffed inside. this dish is oven-baked, so a better choice as compared to the one up there.

Reduce your damage: remove the chicken skin

On top of that, they serve you a jug of ice water at no extra cost, No GST and No Service Charge! One more thing I love is there is no french fries! I detest fries, and im glad by default they gave boiled veg and potatoes...
french fries lovers... top up $1!
=)

Verdict: Will definitely go back again.

Indonesian Thai Dining @ Bumba

Entrance to Bumbu

The Interior

I have no idea what are the words on the signboard means

A Peep at the Menu - They have very interesting dishes such as Bumbu Salad; Catfish with Mango Salad; Diced Pineapple Curry Prawn etc

I don't want any soft drinks, so i settled for Chinese Tea - $2

Appetizer - Krathong Thong $ 7.80 - The base is actually some "Keropok", filled with minced meat, diced carrots and green peas, topped with a lot of shallots. A crispy and fragrant dish, but not to my liking.

Belachan Fried Rice $8.00 - The Fried Rice is not too wet/dry, served with egg at the side which is still quite soft and runny, along with slices of mango and preserved meat.

Cold Tofu with Preserved Egg $7.80 - I chose this dish because i love Tofu and Eggs... The Tofu is served cold on a plate of chili oil, topped with Shallots and Preserved eggs. Its a nice dish, but will be nicer if theres more preserved eggs... and the chili oil is actually kind of redundant.
Uh huh! This is a must try! Coffee Chicken $8.80... When this dish arrived on the table, you can almost immediately smell the aroma of the coffee. It has the aroma of coffee, yet its sweet and not bitter, and the chicken is tender and juicy inside.

Sambal Kangkong $7.80 - The least popular dish on the table, probably because its too common. Do not belittle this dish as it seems that there's not much chili, but beware... i find it quite spicy for my taste buds thou.
Stir Fried Squid in Black Sauce $10.80 - The Squid slices is quite chewy as they are sliced thick. It taste more of sweet than spicy.
After burning your tongue, time for desserts!
Tako $2.50

Red Ruby $2.50

This is the Best Dessert - Custard Pumpkin $2.50 - It is actually a warm dessert whereby the pumpkin is steamed alongside with custard at its center, warm, sweet and moist...
Total Damage and Address

Verdict:
Nice place and Nice food, enough for once but maybe not twice

Victors's Kitchen

Victor's Kitchen! From what i heard, they serve authentic HongKong Dim Sum! No more Dimsum wanna-bes! Variety wise is very limited, almost all the dim sums they sold are already on this blog! Although they lose out in quantity, Quality wise, Victor beats Yum Cha flat. Needless for me to explain how good they are, The pictures below shows all.

Chinese Tea served in non-standardised mugs
Scallop Dips & Chilli Sauce

Milk Custard Bun

First time ate Milk Custard Bun, and 6 out of 8 people of the table loves it. I find if okay thou, fairly good!

4 Custards / 5 Custards

Chee Chiong Fan with Prawn

The Prawn is very BIG and very juicy, the prawn "juice" burst on the first bite. The Chiong Fan Skin veryvery smooth that can slides down your throat, but thick (unlike the usual thin kind). The Gravy is not saltish, so light yet so good. Ordered around 6 of this!

4.5 Chiong Fan / 5.0 Chiong Fan

Glutinous Rice with Chicken

The Glutinous rice wraps a very generous amount of chicken meat, chinese sausages. It is steamed to perfection, not too dry. The Rice is very fragrant with the aroma of the Pandan leaves.

4.5 Glutinous Rice / 5.0 Glutinous Rice

Spare Ribs

Taste very normal, nothing special, but its nice nevertheless.

3.7 Ribs / 5.0 Ribs

XO sauce Carrot Cake
The Carrot cake is so soft yet quite chewy. Each bite has a pretty strong taste of carrots. we ordered like 5 of these! Good Stuff!
4.6 Carrot / 5.0 Carrots

Fried Wantons

I never tried this, cos its fried and looks normal to me. But from what i heard from the rest, they say its good. I should think its good. Go try to find out! :)

Siew Mais

I think the Siew Mais are pretty normal, the small size type. Nicer than NTUC and many of those Buffet Siew Mais, but its certainly not the best ive eaten. But i have to say, its above average la...

4.0 Siews / 5.0 mais

Fried Spring Rolls

Usually i don't like spring rolls, because they are deep fried, and they taste pretty much the same. I had the first bite, and oh my! Its crispy to the right amount on the outside, and the fillings in the inside was so tasty! I cannot really tell whats inside, but BIG juicy prawn was found inside again! My 2nd bite I dipped it with the specially prepared vinegar, and it now taste even better! So i had my 3rd, 4th 5th..yadayada.... and up up those calories!

4.6 Spring / 5.0 Rolls

Chicken Feet

The chicken feet is simmered in a very nice sauce with Tau Pok. Those who do not dare to eat the Chicken Feet for fear of those "feets" can eat the Tau Pok underneath it! The Tau Pok is very yummy after sponging up the sauce. For those who dare to eat feets, lucky you, the feet is cooked so well that the skin detaches away from the bone so easliy, and the sauce has already simmered into the skin.. yums... we had about 4 or 5 of these!

4.3 chicken feets / 5.0 Chicken feets

Har Gow

My Favourite dish of all! Each Har Gow envelopes 3 of those BIG JUICY Prawns! So each Bite gives you 3 bursts of Prawn "juice". Ahh... this is heavenly! DIE DIE MUST EAT and MUST EAT ALOT!

4.8 Har Gow / 5.0 Har Gows

Beancurd Skin wrapped (forgot the name)

This is pretty ok for me..but the rest likes it. Dipped into the special sauce for best effect!

4.0 / 5.0

Some dumpling (forgot the name again)

Well, we ordered only one of this, and this is the first and last. Nothing worth mentioning, a lot of meat fillings inside, but nothing great, and those who ate it agrees too!

3.0 / 5.0

Char Siew Bao

I never eat this cos its just char siew bao. No one mentioned that its good, so once again, i guess its just normal.
