Ayam Penyat Ria with an extra crunch

Ayam Penyat RIA at Lucky Plaza

A stall that specialises in what else... Ayam Penyat lor. Since Ayam penyat is smashed chicken, and ayam is chicken, so i supposed penyat means smashED? This dish originates from Indonesia, but why must it be smashed before serving... i don't know!

Tick your choices and pay $$$, there are some items which I have no idea what they are. I asked the staff but they can't really speak English, so i randomly picked 1 soupy dish.

The Ayam Penyat is very crunchy... but very dry too... crumbs are also added give it an xtra crunch. What i like best about this is their chilli... it has a very exquisite taste. As you can see Kangkong is also served alongside.

and this is the random dish.... Beef Ball soup...There is not much beefball, but the soup is super duper oily la... omg. I don't dare to drink it. It seems as though they add the oil from all the frying of the ayam into this soup... where got soup so oily one???

You can eat the above at:

Indonesian Panggang Set @ NUS Engine Canteen

Campus Yummy Hunt many many month ago... hunted this stall in NUS engine canteen

Picture taken from http://singapuradailyphoto.blogspot.com

Indonesian Panggang @ $2.60

This is my first time trying in this semester! and... the kebab is still as nice, the chilli is still as fiery and hot, the curry veggies is still so ever tasty! At $2.60, who says good and cheap food does not exist!?

But sadly, i returned a few days later, the kebab was sold out. So I had the grilled chicken set but the chicken was terrible. It was salty and dry... omg... did they chicken like drown in a pool of salt water and then suffered from 3rd degrees burn???

I thought this was an isolated case, but a few days later after that, my friend again had the grilled chicken set due to the kebab being sold out again... and to my disappointment... the grilled chicken was as bad...

Hopefully this is again... another isolated case.

But many isolated cases = consistency = constantly bad. lol

nah... giving them another chance :)

Indonesian Thai Dining @ Bumba

Entrance to Bumbu

The Interior

I have no idea what are the words on the signboard means

A Peep at the Menu - They have very interesting dishes such as Bumbu Salad; Catfish with Mango Salad; Diced Pineapple Curry Prawn etc

I don't want any soft drinks, so i settled for Chinese Tea - $2

Appetizer - Krathong Thong $ 7.80 - The base is actually some "Keropok", filled with minced meat, diced carrots and green peas, topped with a lot of shallots. A crispy and fragrant dish, but not to my liking.

Belachan Fried Rice $8.00 - The Fried Rice is not too wet/dry, served with egg at the side which is still quite soft and runny, along with slices of mango and preserved meat.

Cold Tofu with Preserved Egg $7.80 - I chose this dish because i love Tofu and Eggs... The Tofu is served cold on a plate of chili oil, topped with Shallots and Preserved eggs. Its a nice dish, but will be nicer if theres more preserved eggs... and the chili oil is actually kind of redundant.
Uh huh! This is a must try! Coffee Chicken $8.80... When this dish arrived on the table, you can almost immediately smell the aroma of the coffee. It has the aroma of coffee, yet its sweet and not bitter, and the chicken is tender and juicy inside.

Sambal Kangkong $7.80 - The least popular dish on the table, probably because its too common. Do not belittle this dish as it seems that there's not much chili, but beware... i find it quite spicy for my taste buds thou.
Stir Fried Squid in Black Sauce $10.80 - The Squid slices is quite chewy as they are sliced thick. It taste more of sweet than spicy.
After burning your tongue, time for desserts!
Tako $2.50

Red Ruby $2.50

This is the Best Dessert - Custard Pumpkin $2.50 - It is actually a warm dessert whereby the pumpkin is steamed alongside with custard at its center, warm, sweet and moist...
Total Damage and Address

Verdict:
Nice place and Nice food, enough for once but maybe not twice
