Mad Jack makes me mad... not very... but a little.

Before i start introducing this place, let me introduce the burger. If you can see and can read, the burger has a flag on it proclaiming to be a "blue mountain", why blue? i dunno... but it sure give me some blues after eating this burger. Claimed to be the tallest burger in town. But i think now that Botak jones has went to town, their "U-Crazy what' burger should be taller than this blue mountain!

Blue mountain comes with 3 patty of beef/chicken, i chose the beef, thats what attracted me to this place! Beef patties! I was hoping for thick beefy patties, but I was greeted by 3 thin slices of beef. Not only that, the burger bun was served cold. PLUS, the worst thing was that how come the patty is not solid one?!?! Its wet and break easier into piece... omg.. omg... but for the price that i am paying, I shall not complain any further.

Okies! so here's the place! Mad Jack Cafe! So empty... I was like the 2nd customer... also good... peaceful!

Their menu so nice... but food nice more important la...

Check out the food and price! So dirt cheap! This is the only consolation... at least its not expensive and bad... Maybe its just the burger...

Grilled fish! the mashed potato is the fake kind, whereby hot water is added to the powdered type... even a kopi tiam selling western food serves real mashed potatoes that is really mashed lor... The grilled fish was ok...edible (unlike the burger).

Overall, its a comfortable place, with a/c and nice chair + the food in cheap... where can you find such cheap food in town!

My Birthday Birdday Burpday @ Wild Rocket

Hangout up "mount" Emily

Been busy like a bee. one paper finally over. My lack of time was also partly due to my daily gym workouts. Juggling schoolwork and exercise... is tedious. Well well... my birthday entry is finally up! PL is excited about Wild Rocket.. so here it is ya... I am equally excited to post up pics of my cake made by my dearest too!

Hang Out @ Mt Emily - HangOut is actually sort of like a modern backpackers' hotel , and Wild Rocket is just inside!

You will not missed it after entering the main entrance. The staffs are warmth and friendly. And I realised something, all the service staffs are guys, not even a single female staff is spotted... wierd. But the service staffs are really really very nice and friendly!

The dining table...

with a small tealight to lit up the table, creating a very cosy ambience

Some bread and olive oil dip while waiting for the food to arrive. The bread have a very soft texture and its really very aromatic. Tomato flavored ones as well as cheese flavored ones... both are equally good.

Linguine with Tom Yum Sauce - I like how the linguine is cooked, I hate the soggy type. But this is just perfect... chewy. The Tom Yum gravy goes so well with something so Italienisch... simply fantastic. Love the contrast.

4.2 Tom Yum / 5.0 Tom Yum

Pan Seared Ribeye Steak with Caviar and shallots
The steak was done the way I want it to be medium rare... but the beef taste was not strong enough for me, but its still definitely better than Astons... but that's like "duh"~ The caviar and shallots was more to the sourish side, but I like it, as it contrast with each bite of the meaty taste. But I find the cut of the Ribeye kinda thin.

4.2 Beef / 5.0 Beef

The nights ends off sweet with a cuppa Strawberry Cheesecake. The strawberry cheesecake is not the sliced kind, but the deconstructed type, with brittles at the bottom, topped with strawberries, followed by Rum & Raisin ice cream and finally the cream cheese. I think its Mascarpone cream cheese... or is it not? But whatever it is... this is the best for that night. Im inspired to make my own deconstructed cheesecake someday!

4.6 Strawberries / 5.0 Strawberries

Overall, This place is worth a visit! The food is generally good. A nice hangout place for couples or a group of friends for a chat. But if you ask me if i will visit this place again, my answer to you will be, I would rather try some other new places first. I will visit Wild Rocket again, but probably not in the near future.

Pies and Tarts from Le Cafe

Cafe Le Pastry - I have passed by this place a couple of times whenever I visit Rochor Tau Huay (Bean Curd) Stall which is just a few shops away from here... but I nv took a second look at this shop, until today.

So many newspaper clippings, must be pretty good, and some bloggers actually gave a thumbs-up! My intent was to get the Bean Curd Tarts... which is similar to egg tarts, just that the filling is bean curd...

They are reputable for Tau Huay Tarts... but sadly...

The lady boss told us that they have ran out of stock, and we have to come another day! But as a consolation, we bought moon pies instead, after trying out samples given by them. The sample size was generous lor..unlike some stalls... so niao (Stingy). I also tried the brownie, which was pretty good, but there are better ones outside. The moon pie comes in 7 different flavour. (Anyway moon pies is quite similar to moon cake, with paste as its filling, but the skin is flaky). It comes in Coffee, Traditional, Salted, Yam, Green Tea, Red Bean etc... The paste is not too thick, but chewy and overall its pretty good... and it makes a good gift too esp they wrapped it up so nicely... hehe.

so we ordered the bean curd tarts... and come again the next day to collect it...

Bean Curd Tarts! True enough, the bean curd is smooth and silky, and the taste of bean curd is strong. I love it, my family love it.. all of us love it! one missing from the tray, cos its already in my tummy! haha!

QQ mian (noodles)

QQ Noodle House

QQ noodle house, as the name suggested, the noodles are QQ. QQ means kinda like chewy, not lumped in a mess. Its usually very crowded on weekdays, but i went on N'day, meaning no need to Q at QQ house!

Whats on their menu?

I ordered "6" - "martell chicken broth"

"Martell Chicken Broth Noodle"

The first sip of the soup has a very rich "Martell taste, but the more you drink, you sort of gets immuned to the martell taste, and eventually your tastebuds just cant taste anymore of the martell. But still, the chicken broth is very rich in flavor. And how can i not to mention, the Noodles are so QQ! Theres also 3 pieces of Chicken along with it and of cos my favourite EGG! But too bad, the egg was looks quite bad on the picture, but an egg still taste like an egg no matter how it looks like larh!

Thumbsup for the Broth and the QQ noodles!

healthy K-Food at food court meridien hotel

Have you ever heard of Hotplate without using any oil? Yes its true and its located at the Food Court of Meridien Hotel (Near Istana). The Hotplate are cookied using water, so no oil is added. Now, who says you cannot enjoy food that is tasty yet healthy... moreover, at food court price! Every main dish come with a choice of a side dish - Anchovies, Kim Chi and Pickled Cucumber. With an additional 20 cents, you can upgrade your bowl of white rice to brown rice! And to those on low-carbs diet, you cna ask them to remove the rice, and they will adjust the price accordingly!

Spicy Chicken Hotplate
The Meat is very very tender and the spiciness is just right. On top of that, the portion is really big, so for small eaters, 2 person can actually share 1 main! Since no oil was used in the cooking process, there won't be any oily-after-taste.

Dduk bok gi - Stir Fried Korean Flour Cake

This dish is actually quite popular but i don't really like it, because it feel like chewing on bubble gum! But many like it because its very chewy and doughy. The white strips u see are actually rice cake cooked in spicy dressing, made with gochujang (red pepper paste).

Steamed Saba Fish

Steamed Saba - A very healthy choice! Its steamed! no oil used once again, and fishes themselves are high in protein! Look at the portion...so big! 2 big pieces of saba for like only $6.50. nice la..just try... im lazy to convince u foodies....!
