So Far Seoul Good - Part 4 - Day 2 Breakfast, Race Day, Hyundai Mart

Woke up at 5am automatically, but I still lie on bed until the door bell rang. It was Breakfast delivered to our hotel room!

Club sandwiches and fries??? Fries for breakfast and before a run is a no no!

Actually this is not really a good pre-run breakfast, something light and loaded with energy will be good. For example, peanut butter toast! Not too full, but keeps you with energy for the race later!

Something light and loaded with sugar... bad bad breakfast! Leftovers from our Krispy kreme buys the day before.

Then we head down to the Seoul Olympic stadium...

Banner hung in the air! 7th Korea Open Marathon.

Reporters from China. The New Balance Mascot very cute hor? I also took pictures with them... and with Pikachu mascots as well! now... guess how old am i? haha

Thats me! Look abit like Brat Pitt right? everyone says that too! lol. Can you see that the koreans in the background are all dressed in tees and shorts??? I was in track suit and pants and gloves! omg... It was like a few degrees celcius leh... 2? 4? somewhere there... I was really freezing...

Hello world! Im back!!!

The 21km was tiring, cold... very very COLD....
I must emphasize the COLDNESS, and i was thirsty!

It was very cold and the air was dry, coughing and shivering for the first few km, until my body starts to warm up. But when I reached the riverside again...oh my... it was freezing again.
There was no water point at the ending, only wet sponges... but i cannot wet my gloves, if not my hands will sure freeze... so I was dying for water for the last few km.

Completed the race in 1.50 without deducting the gun-time lag. Timing was certainly not my PB... way off... but ok la... I am glad that I can complete in this freak weather!

and it seems that running in cold weather makes you ultra hungry!!!

I was glad I got Chocopies in the finishing goodie bag, peanut bun and chocolate cake and the banana! I finished all...still feeling hungry!

they have a van they sells Pizza...

A hungry man is an angry man... so we went for our lunch part 1 at a food court at COEX shopping mall, near our hotel. There will be a part 2 lunch later with all the New Balance delegates and staffs!

Pizzas made to suit the local taste... Bulgogi pizza? kimchi pizza!

Our Hamburger Steak... see how nice the egg is... The is what I call sunny side up! It makes you smile just by looking at it! and I don't bear to eat it lor!

Korean Ginseng Chicken Soup - The kimchi is power!

After part 1 of our lunch, we went to Hyundai Mart to buy goodies back for friends and families. Hyundau Supermart is like their NTUC i suppposed...

We were caught in a "seaweed" fight between the over-enthusiatic promoters... so we ended up with a few packets of seedweed per promoter... There was like 3 or 4 promoters there... so you do the maths and you will know how much we bought!

Lots of different types of chocopies!

The bf does not look too appetizing. LOL. Too much fries covering the sandwich.

Glad you enjoyed the run FG. Must be a really good experience.

Btw, can I ask you something? I added swimming thrice a week (for 2 weeks now). Usually, I go to the gym four times per week.

I notice weight gain (or is it muscle gain?) even though I was "controlling" my diet. However, when I was not swimming 2 weeks ago, I "pigged" out almost every day and my weight maintained.

Now that I started swimming, I seem to be putting on weight (according to the weighing scale). Is that normal for swimming?

Sorry to use this medium for this. :P This questions just popped into my mind.

Goody -

what is your goal?

How much weight gain is your gain? Is it substantial? If you want to keep track whether you have gained fats, on top of just measuring your weight, keep a log of your waistline.

Oh my, Korea is one of my travel destination wishlists. Just looking at these photos makes me hungry.

Out of topic:
By the way, please change my site from The Asian Traveler to An Asian Traveler. I lost my old custom domain. I have now my new web address http://www.anasiantraveler.com . Thank you in advance for your time and assistance.

Asian Traveller - Out of Topic too - how did you managed to travel so often?

Goody - As long as you stick to your exercise routine and have a good diet, there's REALLY no need to keep tracking your weight/waistline... if you want to work towards an objective, i dun see why u still go pigging out almsot everyday... :(
