Thien Kee Steamboat

I have been mentioning this place to my friends for a very long time...maybe a year? or more? Finally make a trip there! Discover this jewel when my sis brought my family there for dinner..years ago. Now, the New Thien Kee is renovated, so much cooler. But the food is still as good and wonderful and nice and delicious as before!

Thien Kee Steamboat Located at the basement of Golden Mile Tower!
(The crowd speaks for itself on a Monday 8.30pm)

For people looking for contemporary steamboat like Tien Tien, please stay out of this place! This place serves traditional steamboat minus the charcoals. No fanciful dishes, no fanciful dips, just normal chicken rice chilli. Why chicken rice chilli??? u must be wondering... This is because Thien Kee also serves a die-die-also-must try Chicken Rice,  eaten best alongside with the steamboat.

Instead of plain white rice, op for the Chicken rice, its sooo fragrant! The Chicken Meat is so Tender!
And just look at those chickens hanging, sooo FAT!

Here comes the first set!

Total 5 of us! Ordered 3 Large Standard Set (Chicken meat, Fish Balls, Veggies, Liver, Fish Maw, Cockles, Prawns, Eggs etc etc) + 1 plate of Beef + Half a plate of Chicken + 7 bowls
of chicken rice.  Total Damage to our pocket came down to $15 per person only. Nice!

The Chicken, damn nice la. Seems to be in a mess cos already half eaten!

The Aftermath...

The soup gets nicer and sweet towards the end. Look at how barbaric we are! haha... Whole table in a mess! Nobody gives a damn when there yummy food!

4.6 Steamboat/ 5.0 Steamboat

Anyway i am a steamboat lover, so yup... u get my point when i say 4.6? =)

Located at:
Basement Of GoldenMile Tower
#B1-20 Beach Road

N.Y.D.C

Went to NYDC Suntec last Sunday. My post have been lagging behind due to my laziness. Anyway, all these cost only $9.50! haha... cos DBS so kind to give me $20 voucher!

Bratwurst Sandwich
The Sausage is still juicy and the aroma of the foccacia bread...hmm.. wonderful! If only they can be more generous and serve more sausages.

Three Amigos
This is just baked Pasta, named 3 amigos probably because of the 3 different types of meat; namly: Meat Ballz, Ham and Pepperoni! Chose this dish because it was the first of the list and it has a "WOW" icon beside it! Very generous of them to serve more meats than the carbs! More pepperonis plssss!

Snacks from Hongkong

Snacks from HK courtesy of my sister! Hearing how great the Tea Restaurants over there are, i want to go HK too for my next holiday! These are what she bought from HK.

A packet of Japanese Manju
Close-up of a Manju (green bean fillings)
Japanese Dorayaki (Red bean Fillings)
Coconut Cookies

Wife Pastry (Lao Po Bing)
Mooncakes

Jumbo Walnut Cookies

Black Pepper Potato Chips

If only there's more manju and Dorayaki... i can eat them everyday.

Bak Kut Teh

Founder Bak Kut Teh
(photos from http://food.recentrunes.com, forgot to snapped the shop again! arghh~)
Yup yup! I went back to this place again exactly 12 hours after my supper (2am) at this place. Sounds crazy!? haha... its because I went there for supper but ended up watching my friends eat and i was only downing diet cola due to my heavy heavy dinner... so I told myself, i must eat this Bak Kut Teh the next day! They look so healthy yet so tasty!

Check out those photos on the wall
Reached there at 2pm, and the whole place is still full house, just like 12 hours ago! On the walls are pasted photos of celebraties who have patronised this place! Celebrities like Nono, Jacky, Son of Jacky Chan, 5566, Energy, Fann Wong and many many Cheena HK Stars, not much Ang mohs thou.

The famous Soup

Heres the Bak Kut Teh, with 4 ribs. The Soup is the clear kind, unlike the usual ones that are blackish. The Soup is also refillable, but the refilled soup is made from instant Bak Kut Teh mix, only the first serving is the authentic brewed for hours kind. Correct me if im wrong! The Bak Kut is abit tough, so some people might not like it, but i am good with that!

Beancurd Skin

Total Damage $10.30
Personally, i would recommend this place for Bak Kut Teh...! They also sell braised Pork Trotters which looks equally good, but due to my super small appetite, was unable to try so many things in one go! will visit this place again for the trotters! more reviews to come! :D

JB: Jusco: Food n Tea (Revisit 2)

Yup yup! I did went back to JB, but for 2 reasons! First was to go back to this HK cafe which i mentioned in my previous post! and as for the second reason, hmmp..i shall not mention here... heh.
Beef Slices in "Siew Chap" sauce, and braised tofu
First to be served was this, and i cheena pok ordered this! The beef as usual was good, soft and juicy. I really think come to this place, you gotta try their beef dishes. The rice was untouched though, as im not a ricey person, but i ate it with vermicelli instead! below!
Fried Vermicelli in "XO" sauce
This was the "want-to-try" dish which i mentioned in my previous post! Its pretty good, taste better than most fried vermicelli, but its supposed to be fried with "XO", but cant taste any "XO" sauce at all! But what can i expect from the amount i pay...
Shanghainese Fried Rice with Chicken Cutlet
I did not tried this, but it looks pretty normal to me, so i guess it should taste pretty normal too.
Baked Rice in Twin Sauce (Red is Tomato, and White is Cream sauce if im not wrong)
JJ ordered this, and he looks expressionless when eating this, so i guess theres nothing fantastic...
Thick Toast with Kaya and Peanut Butter
Just like my previous entry, just that there's additional kaya this time round. Taste wise, Kaya and peanut butter compliment each other pretty well. But bette check your cholesterol levels after eating this consecutively a few times...

Mango "Tong Shui"

Its not very sweet, meaning no sugar is added to enhanced the flavour. So the taste is purely from the mango itself. Very refreshing and light to the stomach.

Plum Juice with Sprite

Wanted to try something special, so tried this! A very refreshing and cooling mix.

Mango Custard

The Pastry is like those "man tou" that we dipped with chilli crabs gravy, but the interior is filled with mango cutard. The mango custard taste is not stong strong enough, but the "Kou Gan" is good! It should be better if fresh mango puree is used instead of custard!
