Sandwich Shop - Where sandwich meets the eye

Smoked Turkey Sandwich @ $7.80 packed in a convenient take-away box. The shop's layout is of that of a supermarket, whereby one just choose what they want from the shelves of sandwiches, and payment is made at the cashier. These take-away boxes pack 2 slices of sandwiches, and the filling really fills you up, and there is a cherry tomato at accompanying it to make it look healthier, i presume. lol. At a price of $7.80, it is rather steep for an everyday lunch.

The bread is dense which i like, and the portions of greens and meats are just nice. One must love tomato ketchup to enjoy this sandwich for they squirt lots of ketchup in it.

Apple and Muesli Yogurt Pots @ $3.80 - This is not those frozen icey kind of yogurt, i like it. Similar to the texture of Pink Yogurt... But i still prefer Pink's.

Good Bye 2008 Hello 2009 Dinner

The last meal of the year was spent at my friend's place - a Potluck gathering!
Gone is 2008 and better years ahead... i hope!

Introduction of the food... *not arranged in order of merits =)*

Appetizers by me n her! Ham with Feta Cheese and herbs, and Crabmeat with Crab Roe Spread. It could have been better is this was served cold!

Salami and Feta Cheese... I ate most of my own creation... lol.

Mashes Potatoes by LL n F - I did not eat this, cos potatoes are very filling!

Cold Dish - Prawn and mixed fruits cocktail by LL n F - This is nice... I like the how the sweetness of the fruits (underneath the prawns) go with the prawns...

Bai Jiu by CJ - This harmless looking bottle of wine is lethal! 53% alcohol >> than martell or XO... One sip is enough for me... in fact... enough for most of us actually.

Belachan Chilli Sotong and Scallops by YT and his other half - This thing burnss! Vvery spicy... but the spiciness is so shiok that i think i finished like more than half of it while others simply avoid it after the first try... lol. The sotong is so Q... Fury but shiok!

Hawaiian and Supreme Pizza from Pizza Hut by CC - As usual... pizza is always a hit... I have not eaten pizza from P.hut for ages!

Wardolf Salad by GJ n gf - I ate most of these... but was very selective... looking for the area with more walnuts and raisins... lol.

Sherperds Pie by JJ n Gen - The layered Beef and potatoes are so appealing... I like the burnt part at the top and the layers of beef... The mashed potatoes are hand whipped!

Fruit Tarts by Gen n JJ - The only fruity stuff in the whole potluck... nice

Chicken Nuggets by Darius... and...

Ketupat, onions and cucumber by him too... for...

the Satays!

Chicken Wings and drumlets... Famous one from Toa Payoh... Think it would even taste better when it is hot and freshly bbqed!

I dunno what is this thing called.. It looks like Rojak, but only got Tau Pok.. so I call this Taupokjak! I was slurpping the peanuts bits with the sauce... how sinful can this be...

And it ends with a lovely ice cream by Jeff - Nestle Crunch Ice Cream - First time eating it... and It reminds me of BnJ with all the chunky chunks. Vanilla Ice Cream and chocolate flavoured ice cream with chocolate coated rice crispies, with layers of hardened chocolate..and hence the crunch.

My Christmas Dinner - away from the hustle and bustle

Town was so crowded! but I spent my Xmas in the comfort of my own house... whipping up some simple dishes and indulge in a lot of cakes which I haven't had for quite a while... cake taste damn good when you have not eaten them for quite some time!

Triple Cheese Pizza, Chicken Vegetable Soup, Water Biscuit, Mussels, Smoked Salmon, Assorted Dips, Beef Ribeye, Strawberries, Salami, Ham, Bacon...

Wolf Blass Shiraz 2003

After almost 2 hours...

Triple Cheese Pizza topped with Ham, Salami and Turkey Bacon

Chicken Bradwurst with Cheese - This is huge! Actually, one of this thing in my gut already fills me up 80% already...

Chicken + Beef Stew - This was nice! Beef chunks, macaroni, mussels, assorted veg

Cold Dish Black Pepper Mussels with tabasco

Cracker with smoked salmon and assorted dips - This is my favorite! I fnished every single bit of the dip even when the smoked salmon has ran out! However, I really don't know what is in the dips... My guess is that some has tuna in it, and some with prawn or crab roes...

My favourite dip - I think this is some seafood dip... there's a strong hint of prawn...

A balance meal ends with some sweet strawberries and some sinful whip cream simply for aesthetic purpose. lol

and cheers for a better New Year

Fruit Cake from Food Barn - The cake is not those super dense (but still quite dense) kind of fruit cake whereby lots of molases is used, hence this fruit cake taste less sweet (but still generally sweeter than most cakes). Topped with fruits and Pecans soaked richly in rum, giving the cake a wonderful aroma of rum and fruits...

Browniessss - to be heated in a microwave and served with....

Ben & Jerry new flavour! Cake Batter! Do not expect any chunks in this as you normally would in BnJ ice cream. This new flavor has no chunks at all, but just a very rich and smooth butter-like batter ice cream with swirls of chocolate fudge.

Matcha Swiss Roll from Rive Gauche - This is my favorite cake from the whole series of cakes bought there. It is very light and fluffy, yet the hint of Matcha is just nice... very "xiang", give a very therapeutical effect, very zen... lol. The black black thing is see in the center of the roll, that's Azuki beans, adds another dimension of sweetness to the cake.

Guanaja - I like this too, for it has a bitter sweet to it. The bottom layer is crispy biscuit with layers of chocolate sponges in between. This is supposed to be a hot favourite.

Mango Cake - Refreshing sweet mango slices at the top and bottom, with layers of mango mouss and mango crunch. Everything is really just mango, but mangoes made in different way.

Mont Blanc - The star of this cake is the chestnuts. It has French and Japanese chestnuts in between the layers of sponges soaked with brandy. The top layer of beautiful strokes of cream is chestnut cream.

*burp*

hope everyone had a merry xmas and next a good new year ahead!
