Double Happiness 双喜 - Happy Graduation and Happy Birthday

Its the time of the year when parents feel proud of their ah boy and ah girl. Even after 4 years, I cannot even type a proper english sentence, so ashame to go up the stage la.

NTU calls it convocation, NUS calls it commencement. So who is the EXTRAordinary one?

The whole 1.5 hours was reduced to 1hr, cos I left immediately after getting my transcript! No hugs and drop-from-the-sky balloons for me!

That's Uncle FDGM approaching the food!

Wahseh, what to eat?!?!?!

Dumpling is nice! I want more and dump the rest!

4 years has passed, from Mr FDGM to Uncle FDGM, an uncle of 2 lovely nieces.

First happiness was for my mum and dad, 2nd Happiness was solely for Dad, because it's his birthday as well! Thou I have yet to get my first paycheck, I decided to treat my family for tea at BOSSES aka 黑社会!

My gf ordered this tea, its some flower petals tea... very fragrant and flowery! haha.

XLB - Xiao Long Bao - Decent enough, but Din Tai Fung still has the upper hand on this.

Beancurd skin wrapped with Cheong fun, with prawns inside! My sis love this.

Har Gow - now they use minced prawn instead of whole prawns! The last time i went wasn't like this! angry!!!

The famous "sand bun" or 沙包- This bun got its name from the sandy texture custard in the bean. My gf loves this, but i find it too sweet. But it is a very interesting experience to eat this, the custard is hot and fluid, it burns! so be careful.

Spring roll with duck meat - the duck meat is quite a big slab, but wierd thing if you eat it as a whole, you cannot really taste the meat.

Siew Mai or 烧卖?I hope i got the chinese character right. The prawns used is fresh and big, for someone like me who usually detest Siew Mai, like this too!

Carrot Cake - its texture is evsoft and eating with century egg is really a fantastic idea.

Mango dessert - it does not have tt kind of synthetic mango taste. nice.

a few hours later was dinner. having a 1 + yr and mth old nieces can be quite a burden, meaning when it comes to dining, we are kind of restricted. With the H1N1 in the loom, my sis is kinda paranoid (i will too if im the parent). So we stayed at home for dinner.

Everything was ordered from 933

Salted Chicken - My Fav. with herbs buried within the white salt crystals.

The salted chicken unfold!

Fried Tofu - untouchables.

Fried Chicken Wings - Untouchables 2

This is the famous 933 Golden Pillow -It is actually curry buried within the bread. The shape looks like a pillow, the colour of curry resembles gold, and hence the name "golden pillow"

Back to Paris Day 10 - BEST french dinner and cake

So, well I am into 5th day of work soon! Day 1, I was disoriented! Day 2, I was oriented and I met up with some people in the same "thing" as me! They come from all parts of the world, and speak damn good/fluent English, and I was like... Singlish all the way! haha. Day 3 and Day 4, my job was to talk and interact with "people"! Day 5, have tea with the "last person" and do a presentation on some "stuff". Next week, I will be moving to another office in that area, the downgraded from VERY high storey to medium storey, I guess i will miss the fantastic view of the sea from the pantry, as well as the jam biscuits.

So far so good! I have made new friends/colleagues/acquaitance. Some of them are really nice to talk to! I cannot wait for what lies ahead, and I look forward to each day. Hopefully my energy will remain consistent for a long long time.

As for exercise, I have woke up at 5am twice to go for my mid distance run... and I am so proud of my discipline! :P But this was outweigh by a heavyyyy beer/martini drinking session yesterday...

Tomorrow marks the last day of my stay in the office, so since i got many free gumgums, I will bring along my collection of RS which I bought from Berlin.

OK! back to Paris day 10... after the picnic outside lourve, surely we must eat dinner right!?

so we took a ride along the river...

Notre Dame as seen from the ferry

Eiffel Tower loooks the BEST from the ferry!

the top viewing platform of the Eiffel Tower taken with my new cam (specially for this trip) - 48X zoom sia!

after the tiring day, the ferry ride, the endless shopping, we finally settled down in a restaurant recommended by a friend

Luckily, they have special English menu, but the english menu description does not help much!
but, we still managed to order some darn nice food. damn nice.

Sister's - she got a mixed platter. ranked 2nd out of 4.

Foie Gras is OMG nice!!!! damn nice. I love it, everyone loves it! The bacon is a tat too raw and oily of cos, the duck breast has a very tender and unique taste and texture!

Bro-in-law - Steak, his steak is so much nicer than mine! ranked 3rd out of 4.

Mine - Steak with Roquefort cheese. This has to be the last ranking dish amongst all, even though it is like many many times better than steaks i tried in SG!

GF's - This is the champion dish - Turkey tagliatto - The turkey is sooooo soft and infused with flavours you cannot imagine! The pasta is very chewy and the whole dish just goes so well, every details, from the pasta to the lemon sauce to the turkey!

Lemon meringue pie

follow by the BEST cake I had... this simple harmles looking pastry bought from a nearby bakery got me hooked!

chocolate and strawberry flavour. I don't know what are these called, but when someone (who is a health nut) can finish 2 in one go, you know that this stuff gotta be so so soooo nice. Layers and layers of cream/chocolate/strawberry/biscuits/cake/flakes/icing... its a french kueh lapis!

This is the best meal for the entire trip!

Japanese Bento Set @ Botan - 060709 marks the first day of work

Well, I must say that this is the best year for me! I was lucky enough to win a free trip to Seoul ( I have not finished blogging on it yet!), managed to finished a full marathon before getting into the workforce. Managed to go for a getaway at the very last min before embarking on my career, in fact i bought the tickets to Paris a day before I flew, and managed to go to the country I always wanted to... that is Berlin, and i might be going China if things turn out well. I also managed to get one of my dream job which has now become a reality. Although I have no religion, but I feel blessed. lol. I hope things remain as it is or even better for a very long time!

So tomorrow marks the first day of my new life, that is working life. As for food, I have no worries, because there are plenty of yummy food at where I'm working! As for exercise, I plan to workout at 630am on weekdays ( in fact I have been doing this for the past 4 years before going school), and weekends, I will head to the gym in the morning, and a swim and to get some sun on Sunday afternoon. Hopefully I can stick to my plans. I think I will.

Why did I say there's plenty of nice food at the vicinity at where I will be working??? hehe...

Natto - This is a very cheem dish, i have no idea how should i go about eating it! so in the end, I just pour the quail egg into the natto and just make it into a ROJAK!

Super Oi-Shi Bento! Everything is so nice... from the tempura to the fresh and melt-in-ur-mouth sashimi even to the rice...

Nice too.... but very oily. Crispy and eggy, maybe I can call this japanese "pizza"
