Ochacha... here i come... @ Raffles City

Just about a month ago, Breadpig organised a foodie outing to Ochacha and i wanted to go too! But i was in Taiwan. When i came back and saw all the pictures that they have posted up... Day and night ive been thinking of it... loL... I must try the green tea and the sandwiches!

and so here i am at Ochacha!

Mushroom Soup - Lots of mushrooms bits and chunks and hence its name. lol. Seriously, the amount of mushroom is pretty generous, but sadly, its a tat too salty... its way too salty actually. It will be great if the soup can bring out the natural taste of the mushroom itself without the overpowering salty taste. But it is still not too bad comparable to other soups.

Azuki Freezie ($6.50) - Ice Blended Green Tea with Azuki Red Beans
The aroma of the green tea is still pretty strong despite the sweetness of the red beans. Blending green tea and red beans is indeed ingenious... I love these!

Furikake Salmon Sandwich ($5.90) - Furikake is the small little bits of things that is sprinkled over the salmon. The salmon is quite alot for the size of the sandwich, salmon lovers will definitelylove this... and yes i do! But the wierd thing is how come I am given wholemeal bread that looks like it is from Gardenia... and why Breadpig was given another type of bread? hmm hmm... but i am fine with it cos i love wholemeal anyway.

The sandwich set comes with the garden salad, which has lettuce, cherry tomatoes, japanese cucumber, corn and some wasabi coated peas... there is also a few piece of chips by the side. thanks goodness its only a little.

Wasabi Tuna Sandwich - This sandwich is more evenly toasted, which i prefer... It is stuffed pretty generously with wasabi tuna, and you can tell the staff the intensity of the wasabi during your order, either strong or normal. Every bite has a strong hint of wasabi...cheerios to wasabi fans.

Overall, I like O cha cha... and it will definitely be my tea time hangout area should I be around the vicinity...

Taipei - Home Sweet Home - But I miss Taipei more

CJ 7 is back in Singapore - hot and humid

so are the Taiwan snacks!

Brought a little flavour of taiwan back with me... The super nice black sesame pastry

and this is for my Singapore breakfast... the black sesame still taste as nice as it was in Taipei

Tai Yang Bing - Sun Biscuit

That's how it looks inside! I dun really like Sun Biscuit... dunno what is the hype over it... the black sesame is wayyy better!

And some other snacks we brought back... The Mochi with filling and chocolate coating is pretty good. Filling comes in green tea, coffee, peanut and strawberry flavours!

i really miss Taipei...

Taipei - Day 4 - Last Day - Breakfast before flying off

Breakfast 1 -
Soya Bean Milk
& Egg Pancake wrapped with pork floss and eggs!
Tried before the one in Geylang Yong He? This is soooo much better!

The inside of the egg pancake! If you ever go Taipei, please make the effort to wake up earlier to savor the breakfast along the streets! they are so nice can?!

Breakfast 2 -
Peanut Butter Toast
& Soya Bean milk again & Egg Pancake with Ham and Cheese
I miss peanut butter so much in Taiwan and for 5 days i never eat PB until today! haha... so glad! We had out 2nd serving of Soya Bean milk again, even the soya bean milk over there is nicer... However the egg pancake for this shop is lousier, a bit soggy soggy one... like kway chap/ lasagna
Breakfast 3 -
Wholemeal sandwich,
with Half-boiled egg filling, pork floss, cheese and veg

Breakfast 4 -
Shao Bing with egg and pork floss, and rolled rice with pork floss and egg as filling. The rolled rice is very unique, pretty similar to Sushi, but very different in taste... and do not despise its size, cos its damn filling!

Inside the shao bing

inside the rolled rice with egg and pork floss

Breakfast 5 -
Blackpepper meat patty burger (Left), the patty is so juicy and tasty with the sauce and the cheese. Egg and cheese Toast (Right)

Inside of the Egg and Cheese Toast, the cheese is gooey hot, covering a sunny side up within the toast.

Breakfast 6 -
Mister Donuts! I have tried donut factory and Dunkin, and this mister donut which is a franchise from Japan win these 2 for sure! Texture wise, its very chewy... i hate the donut factory kind which is so soft like bread like that. And the varieties for mister donuts are all very cool, with very special flavour like Azuki red bean, and matcha. This two of which are my favourites.
You see those 2 donuts in some wierd shape? It is called Pon De Ring. The donut has restrictions along its circumference and each pod holds the filling... so the correct way of eating i guess should be eating pod by pod until you finish the whole donut! In Singapore, I seldom eat donuts... its a good thing this brand is not in SG, else i will be eating everyday! Seriously, this is good stuff.

Breakfast 7 -
ended with a cool and refreshing Matcha Milk Tea!

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU TO TRY THE BREAKFAST IN TAIPEI
ALL OF ABOVE ARE BOUGHT AND ATE IN XI MEN DING!

Taipei - Rainbow Hotel Toilet - just for laugh

"PLEASE THROW THE DUST IN THE DUST BAG"

Taipei - Day 3 - Afternoon - Taipei 101 - Bei Tou Hot Spring - Dan Shui

Taipei 101 after our breakfast at Yong Kang Street - I am almost lying flat on the ground to take this picture because this building is sooooo tall, and it is so difficult to capture the entire length!

Fa Lun Da Fa???!!! It was quite a hilarious sight as these people were performing with drums and cymbals... dunno what they are doing also larh...

The Damper soft toy! The is the mascot for Taipei 101, supposedly to look like the damper within the building, that damps against the building movement due to wind or earthquake etc...

The healthier version of Za Ji Pa (fried chicken chop), this is the steam/boiled version, seasoned with spices... taste kind of like the normal chicken in our plate of chicken rice. Its eaten cold, and that is the chicken crown... oh yux.

After Taipei 101, took a train to our hot spring destination!

Xin Bei Tou station - alight here and you can walk to a street with whole row of hotel with hot spring facilities for you to choose! There is also a public hot spring, something like our public swimming pool, just that the water is hot spring water and its not tiled flooring, but stones and rocks!

Entrance of the Public Hot Spring - Ma Ying Jeou the New Taiwan President visited this place before too! When we reached there, its not open yet, so not to waste time... we went to the hotel ones... which are more expensive.
Not to waste our trip to the public hot spring, we bought some Tea Eggs cooked using the Hot Spring water, so i supposed theres more minerals in the eggies?

Tea provided by the private hot spring, got TV, the flooring is tatami mat, very nice... if you have the time, you should spend a night at the hot spring hotels.

After the relaxing soaked at the hot spring... we went to Dan Shui, one of my favorite place.

Basically a lot of food in Taipei, i dunno what is it called, i just point and ordered it... This thing is a sotong-ball-like thing. First bite at Dan Shui!

I love durians... but fried durians???

Bean Curd Stall

The smelly Tofu at Dan Shui is smellier than those in other night markets!

Ah Gay and Fish Ball soup!

Preparation of Ah Gay...

This is Ah Gay... The left is Ma La Ah Gay, and the right one is traditional Ah Gay. This is a must eat as recommended by Lonely Planet! There are a lot of stalls selling Ah Gay, also don't know which one is the best...

Ah Gay is basically Tau Pok (Fried Bean Curd) with Tang Hoon (Vermicelli) inside.
Fish Ball Soup, elongated shape one...

Got minced meat inside! Fu Zhou Fish Ball-like, but tastier... it is so nice to gobble down the fish balls together with the hot soup when the night is so cold!

Fried Potato chips - note that the potato chip aint really a chip, it is peeled continuously without breakage from a potato... just found out that bugis junction in Singapore also have this.

Fried Pork chop with cheese! I love this to bits... HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

nicely fried...

The hot cheese that oozes out burns my tongue! but it is so nice... like eating pork chop and drinking cheese like that... damn sinful thou!

After the sinful treat, bought fresh cranberries that are freshly plucked, to cool my burnt tongue...

The night at Dan shui ended with BBQ Mochi with hersheys chocolate... i requested for extra chocolate... i only like the burnt part with part with the chocolate, without the chocolate, its just some tasteless chewy rubber... so it was thrown away after the top layer was eaten!
